Venture to the deep darkside of life

SAS Zombie Assault 3

Even though many zombie games can be relatively entertaining, a majority of them often fall flat because of their design or improper selection of sounds/music. A truly brilliant zombie game will manage to create a desperate and tense atmosphere as well as having solid gameplay and a great aesthetic.

While most games only tick a few of these boxes, SAS Zombie Assault 3 is a title that pretty much has it all: great graphics, well-timed and tension-inducing sounds, gameplay that focuses heavily on a quantity of weapon upgrades that will keep you coming back for more for the foreseeable future.

The gameplay is played from a top-down perspective and focuses on surviving waves of zombie attacks as you wait in a selection of different safe houses and barricaded positions for the attacks to occur.

Zombies will approach the house and begin to bang on the boarded-up windows where you can begin shooting them with a series of weapons that you must unlock throughout the game. Eventually the zombies can destroy the barricades and enter the house, posing an elevated threat to you and requiring you to gun them down as a priority.

The whole game plays out in this manner and is essentially about running around the house and prioritising your attacks so that you go where the most imminent threat is emerging. Experience is gained in each level and levelling up allows you to unlock the different weapons that the game has to offer.

Weapons in the game are in such abundance that they must be categorised into different classes. You can obtain handguns, submachineguns, shotguns, machineguns, and even a sniper rifle and grenade launcher. Each weapon is unlocked by gaining experience points and reaching a certain level. There are also premium weapons that you can obtain though you must sign in to the website in order to obtain them.

SAS Zombie Assault 3 is an extremely challenging zombie shooting game and its difficulty increases almost exponentially the further you progress through the game.

You begin with the glock handgun and sparse waves of zombies that are fairly easy to take down, but you will soon encounter zombies in greater number and of increasing difficulty that are able to take down your fortifications more easily and deal a considerable amount of damage if they break through your barricades and enter the safe house area.

If you manage to get through the single-player gameplay then there is also a multiplayer mode that you can get involved in if you enjoy that kind of thing.

SAS Zombie Assault 3 pips number 4 in the series for best zombie shooter and with no SAS Zombie Assault 5 on the horizon will remain fans favourites for it's lack of microtransactions and solid game play. On the point of the gameplay it's challenging to the point of frustrating at times, and the sounds/music create a tense atmosphere that is rare for a flash game.

It is the selection of weapons where the game truly shines, however, and the challenge of unlocking all of the available weapons for use in your survival adventure is very difficult to walk away from.
